Dear Friends,

Jesus prayed in John 17:3, "And this is eternal life, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, Whom Thou hast sent." (Italics added)

Have you ever challenged yourself with the question, Why am I a Christian?

With the Lord, it isn't what you do, but why you do it that matters. Many, many people identify themselves as Christians and there are many, many reasons why people do this. For some, it is because they want to go to Heaven when they die. For others, it's because they don't want to go to Hell when they die. For still others, it's because of promises of spiritual, physical, or even material blessings.

But are these reasons, in the final analysis, acceptable to God? Would any of them truly satisfy His heart of love? Could any one of them qualify as the real reason to be a Christian? Would these reasons cause us to weather the storms of life and endure challenges to our faith without turning on God, accusing Him, or even abandoning Him?

The Apostle Paul answered for himself in Philippians 3:4-14. He recognized that Jesus Himself was his reward and that was enough! The reason that he was a Christian was because of Jesus Christ! He had responded in love to the love of the Savior and everything else in Paul's life came after his relationship with, his progressive knowing of, his Savior. This was the most important thing in his life.

There is no greater thing than knowing Him! Many people have yet to discover this, including many Christians. He is our Life and knowing Him is life. Those who allow themselves to be satisfied with being saved, being baptized in the Holy Spirit, being healed, being prospered, or anything less than a love relationship with Him that grows and deepens every day, sadly miss what the Christian life really is and settle for far less than the Lord purposes for them.

May He open our eyes to see Him as He is and cause us to hunger and thirst for righteousness to the point that nothing fascinates us like Him. May we see that there really is nothing and no one to compare with Him. When Jesus is first in our lives, He gives everything in our lives its proper place and worth. The most important thing in life is your own genuine, personal relationship with God.  "Send forth Your light and Your truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to Your holy mountain, to the place where You dwell." Psalm 43:3 NIV

God bless you!
